Drawing View Shaded without edges

Anonymous

Hello!

I'm using Inventor 2016.

Is there a way to have a drawing view that is shaded without edges?  "Shaded" (without edges) and "Shaded with Edges" are available as Visual Styles in the part and assembly environments but the "Shaded" button under Styles in the Edit View dialog in the drawing environment yields shaded with edges.

Often when making assembly drawings, especially for proposals or customer design review approvals, I want shaded views of the model in the drawing view but without edges, such as below.

I've searched online and the forums.  The closest I've found is this thread but it's 7 years old and I'm not sure it's in regards to drawing views.

Thanks very much!

Thanks for your quick response, mcgyvr!

That seems to turn off edges for all views on all sheets.  I need wireframe style on several other views in the same drawing.  Is there a way to assign this to each drawing view independently?

No..

ok.. on to..

Option #2  Smiley Wink

With your selection filter on "edge priority" window select all the edges on the view you wish to remove the lines from.. right click and uncheck visiblity

Option 2 it is!

Hmmm, I can select all the lines but don't get a visibility check listed when I right click... (see below).  I tried right clicking in several different areas but no change.  Thanks for helping me through this!

Likely because you have also selected the leaders..

You need to only select model lines...then it should work

This is a wonderful workaround, but an unbelievable oversight by Autodesk. Is it really that difficult to add this type of functionality to the drawing? The real question is why wouldn't it be there? Of course, this solution instantly renders your ability to attach leaders impossible.
