Drawing Notes/Detail View Scale in Template and other Template Questions

I am trying to slightly reconfigure the companies sheet drawing templates so everyone's drawings are more consistent and have a few questions regarding the setup. I am not sure how to add a standardized Note as part of the template, and also how to include the scale in the label of Detail Views and was wondering, how would I go about that?

Also, does the revision table have it's own reference file or is it counted as part of the sheet drawing template or something else?

Lastly, can I import/export a template file from a network drive so that coworkers can access the same template file? Could I do the same with the revision table reference file if there is one?

Thanks

  1. A standardized note that appears on every drawing sheet in the same location could be included in the border or in the title block.  If it doesn't go on every drawing sheet, then it could be a sketched symbol that can be added where needed.
  2. Drawing view preferences are controlled by the active Standard for your drawing.  Using the Style and Standard Editor, select the Standard that you want to change, then the View Preferences tab; there you'll find View Label Defaults for each type of view:

  3. As you can see in the image above, Revision Table is a type of style, also configured using the Style and Standard Editor.
  4. You can configure Inventor to use templates from any location that your computer can reach, including network locations.  In Application Options, click on the File tab, then set the location of Default Templates to your network location; do the same for other users.  Make sure to actually copy your templates to that location or Inventor will yell at you when you try to start a new file.

Hope that helps,

Hi! Please share the template file to facilitate the discussion. Regarding where the template files should be stored, you can keep them on a shared network drive or have a PDM system (Vault) managing the template files (locked up). Every PDM user pulls down the template files from the server.

Many thanks!

Thank you for the detailed response!

Just have a couple more questions regarding this topic. For the default text/notes part of the template, I'm trying to edit the current one to update along with the title block. The problem is that I cannot seem to find it when editing Sheet Size/Definition or editing the Title Block.

And lastly for the template file reference locations. Since I am only changing the drawing templates and moving them to a new location so everyone has access to them, would I have to move/copy the current template files for part and assembly files (standard, weldment, sheet metal, etc.) along with my updated drawing templates to the new desired location on the network?

If you want the default notes in the title block, then you'll have to edit the title block definition, place your text, then save it.  Every time you use that title block, the text comes with it.  But I'm not clear what you're actually saying: "I'm trying to edit the current one to update along with the title block"-- current one meaning what?

As far as template locations-- yes, all the templates need to be in the same location.  There is no separation by template type.
