Drawing: Creating a centered pattern for holes on a section view

Hello

I'm new to Inventor, and I keep running in to problems with features that I'm used to from previous use of CAD software.

I'm trying to ad centerlines to a pattern of 3 holes, in order to annotate them with a mutual angle.

But Inventor won't let me create the lines. I have done it on other drawings, but not with a sectional view.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Help much appreciated, thanks!

Here is what I am trying:

Few different ways ...

You could make them through the holes first and pull them to the center

You can do it via Sketch ( to much work in my opinion)

Can you share a drawing ...and we can show you

Hi karl.emil.nielsen,

I'm not sure the centered pattern is the correct method for this, since the holes are perpendicular to the view since it creates center marks rather than center lines?

I would typically use the Centerline Bisector tool for this.

I hope this helps.

Thank you! That did the job, and the solution was just right there. Sorry for such a trivial question.

The center mark is not alligned with the holes as I would have liked, but I think this will do the Job!

Thanks again.

All that's needed is to drag the ends of your centerlines to the middle as shown here:

There are no alignment features (snaps) to help make them uniform size, though.  If you want, you could create a view sketch with a circle to provide a target, then hide or delete it.

Hi karl.emil.nielsen,

Another tip is, if you right click on the center mark, you can choose Edit > Align To Edge and then select a part edge your center mark will rotate.

I hope this helps.
