Dimensioning 3D model

Hi Team

I would like to show some dimension on 3D model. When I pick It covers whole surface, but I need to show center to center dimension. Also how to keep the dimension on this 3D model?

Thanks

Hi, you are using the measure command.

If you want to show dimensions on the model, try using the annotate ribbon bar to add 3D annotations.

Hi,

Appreciate your prompt response.

Please see the attached image.

1. It picks center points only. But I need to show external dimensions, so I need to pick the outer points. How to do that?

2. How to remove decimals?

2. I tried to amend (over ride) dimensions, but still shows actual dimensions?

How to fix these above?

Thanks

I will ask the 3DA expert if outside is possible, but they are on US timezone so might be a while before I get a response. A not very good work around at the moment is to attach a 'point' to the quadrant and then dimension that.

Right click the dimension and choose precision to remove decimals

To override, double click, then choose edit dimension.

You need to click 'hide dimension value'
I never recommend overriding anything though as you can have serious problems later on when someone builds it.

Hi, snapping 3D annotations to tangent/quadrants is not possible at this stage.

My work around above is your best option for now.

Thanks

Hi James,

Appreciate your prompt response. Please see attached image. The indicated edges are shown in broken lines ( not straight). So we are unable to publish the image in website?

Thanks

Have you tried putting the model into a drawing first?

You could try setting the view to realistic and see if that cleans up the edges.

Most companies that put something like this on a website would do a render first and add the dimensions in another program, like Illustrator. You might even be able to add the dimensions using Powerpoint if you don't have anything else.

Hi James,

Thanks for your response.

Does Autodesk has any program like illustrator in it's bundle ?

Thanks

Not that I know of. Sketchbook used to be an Autodesk product, but even that won't really do what you want.

I'm not sure sorry, it is no longer owned by Autodesk.
