Dimension Tool - Snapping

Hello,

I'm having a couple of irritations while using the dimension tool.

Issue 1:

When trying to place dimensions the cursor picks up anything and everything in between whether the lines be hidden or on the same face you are drawing on. In the example below, I want to measure from the foot (blue line) to the yellow center line, however the dimension tool keeps picking up every individual hidden concentric circle (green line) in between.

Issue 2:

I would like it to stop snapping to midpoints on lines as well.

These should be very simple things to turn on and off but it seems that when I turn them off, if I am NOT actually turning them off, it just performs the exact same way like nothing happened so I am at a loss here and need some assistance. Thanks!

Hi. Have you tried to set priorities by means of SHIFT+right mouse button. See the picture. These settings makes it possible to snap to or select entities or objects that you have prioritized.  Also, things like the center of a line are valuable assets. If you keep on snapping to the ones that you do not need, then rather zoom in and direct your cursor to something specific. Your pic shows you in a sketch in a part modelling environment. Inventor natively will show you all and sundry. It also helps to make the solid(s) invisible in the model browser, make other sketches prior to the current one visible and relate to those by projecting all or some of there geometries. I have never tried to turn of things like center points of a line.
