Dimension Style Default?

I have made 3 custom dimension styles (Company Name Fraction, Company Name Decimal & Company Name Metric).  I have updated my project's Styles & Standards and all 3 appear in my drop-down list when I'm in a drawing.  What I am trying to accomplish is for my most-used style (Company Name Fraction) to be the default style.  The problem is - any time I start a new dimension, it defaults to "By Standard" and not "Company Name Fraction".  Is there ANY way to remove the "By Standard" from the drop-down list?  I have not found a solution after scouring the interweb and these forums.  Is it even possible?  Full disclosure - I can use the software pretty well, but I'm pretty terrible at customizing it.  Explain it to me like I'm a 6-year old.

In your styles editor, you need to assign the new style to all of the different dimension types that it applies to, under your Object Defaults.  The other styles will still be there to choose from, but the one set here should be the one Inventor goes to first.  I would set this in your templates as needed.

This is what my styles look like (see attached - I've obscured Company Name).

"By standard" simply means it will use whatever you have setup in your object defaults..

If thats not working then....

Are you making these changes in your template file, saving that template file and then starting a new drawing using that template file and saying its not working?

If you are making these changes in an existing drawing (not the template file directly) then those changes are only saved locally in that file and are not what your template file is using..

Just tested this out by changing all of the defaults in a test drawing environment.  I still see "By Standard" in the pull down, but I am getting the style I wanted.  Are you not seeing your new style actually being used by Inventor?

I think it is possible that I am just not understanding how Inventor works.  FWIW, when I use the "By Standard" style, it appears to behave as my preferred customized style settings.  In other words, "By Standard" IS my customized style, even though the name doesn't change.

To rephrase - there is no way to actually override the NAME "By Standard", but it is using my styles as defined in the project.  So selecting "By Standard" is exactly the same as using my "Company Name Fraction" style.

Would that be a correct interpretation?

Ok so it sounds like everything is working as it should you just don't like that it says "By Standard" instead of your "Company Name Fractional"...

So..

You cannot override "By Standard".. thats just how Inventor is programmed to work... It's basically telling you "He there human.. I'm using the Standard you setup as the default 😁" when that is selected..

Looks like a inconsistent in UI.

Other dimension style will show the style name after "By Standard".

Got it.  Inventor is behaving correctly, I was simply misinterpreting how it handles custom styles.  It was just a perceived issue, not an actual one.

@Frederick_Law  - I don't see the bracketed actual style next to "By Standard".  It definitely would have clarified what was actually occurring if it did.

Thanks for the clarification.

@Frederick_Law  Thats likely because the "Dimension" tool can do multiple types of dimensions (linear/radial,etc...) so multiple styles would apply.
