Detailed part lines blend together in drawing.

We do a lot of these types of drawings were it is a total layout of the product showing the location of all the individual parts with balloons. Typically these are printed and at the scale used, all the detail lines (first image) are blended together into a solid block (second image). The detail isn't needed for this layout view, but is for other individual drawings, so we don't want to remove these lines at a part level or create duplicate parts. Ideally we would like to have just an "envelope" of all these parts in this view to better illustrate the boundaries and overall shape.

We have tried "simplifying" the assembly with limited or no success. In the simplify process we have tried to remove the holes, features, etc. which often still leaves us with a few holes leftover and the grooves represented as horizontal lines, which isn't really much of an improvement.

We have thought of just drawing a rectangular sketch in each part and making a view representation of just that, but it doesn't always carry over to the next iteration of this part if we "save-as" and alter the dimensions.

It may not be possible or at least not a simple one-click operation to get what we want, but maybe someone has a better thought of how to achieve a cleaner drawing.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Hi! If I understood the issue correctly, this might have something to do with the display line scale. Go to Tools -> App Options -> Drawing -> change the Line Weight Display option -> set it to smaller width.

Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

While the issue is on screen when zoomed out to fit the page, I do have the ability to zoom in and the definition between the pieces get smaller. The issue is more on the printing side. When printed, even with the thinnest line weights, there is just too much detail at a small scale, that it is difficult to see the overall envelope of the piece. Ideally in the drawing, we would like to have little to no interior lines in the parts so just the silhouette is shown.

Going from the first image to the second image is what we want (I had to manually hide all the interior lines for this example, which is not ideal).

Hi! I am sorry I don't think I fully understand the issue. If possible, please share the files here, I would like to understand the line weight issue better.

Many thanks!
