Derived Assembly and BOM

Hi everyone,

I've used Derived Assembly to create right and left sub-assemblies. The sub-assembly "77_598B1D_64" is derived from the "77_598B1E_64".

The derived sub-assembly "77_598B1D_64" appears in BOM as a part. That is no problem at all but the parts that are used to build it doesn't appear. For example, in the "77_598B1E_64", it shows that it's used 33 units of "77_598P28_64" but, in fact, it is used a total of 33x2=66 pieces. 33 for each left and right version. If I go to "parts only" tab, it shows 33.

How can I make the re-used parts in a derived assembly count in BOM?

Hi @geral ,

Derived parts in an assembly do not show individual components from the source assembly its derived from or any of the child assemblies derived into it. Think of it as taking all the components of some assembly and putting them into a single bag. It's typically a single entity and therefore you won't be able to see the child parts in a BOM view when you place this derived part into another assembly.

There is a workaround. You can try creating a substitute view of an assembly and then place that substitute assembly (not substitute part) into another assembly get the view BOM view to show you the individual parts.

Thanks
