Derive Sketch not visible With Block

I have a normal sketch in a part document.
Why is it the following the case:
I have a sketch with a line and a block (square in the sketch).

When I create a new part and use derive the previous part into this part the sketched line is only available when selecting the block also.
If you deselect the block also the line disappears from the derive.

If you remove the block from the part one, the line is again selectable or visible in the derived part function.
Maybe this is a bug.
And it would be great to have both functionalities.

Arthur Knoors

Maybe I am missing something completely obvious here.... But it seems to me that both the line and the block are tied to the same sketch, and when you change your derive settings, you're switching on/off on that sketch, not on the block.

How do you expect different behaviour when you're deselecting the sketch and not the block?

The case is that if you deselect the block also the sketch is complete empty and disappeared.

This is weird since when you don't have any blocks the normal sketch line is in the derive possibilities and function as you can see in the movie.

I see. It's highlit in the second movie indeed.

I would guess it's intentional since it was never an option to derive only part of a sketch. If you want that, you'd have to put it into two different sketches.

The above is only a guess. I'm not affiliated in any way with Autodesk.

Maybe @johnsonshiue can clarify

Hi Arthur and Yannick,

Indeed, the behavior is a bit inconsistent. I think the issue here is that if only the block, not the other sketch geometry, is allowed to be derived by itself, the sketch solving behavior could be inconsistent. It could lead to other unpredictable behaviors. It is a limitation at the moment.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue,

Time for a new idea I think:
