Default Drawing

Is there a way to change the default drawing that opens when you select "File > New > Drawing"?

I've created a drawing with a custom title block and saved it as a template, my default templates folder is set to the folder where this custom template is stored but to open a drawing using this template I have to go to "File" and click the "New" button, allow the "Create New File" window to pop up and then select the template from the "Drawing" box.

As the "File > New > Drawing" is quicker, I would like to set this to open my custom template directly.

I've got it working. I use Inventor 2016 so your version might work a little bit differently. When you select New>Drawing, by default your Inventor might be set to read a dwg file template called "standard.dwg"  instead of "standard.idw". Both files are in your template folder (for me its "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2016\Templates").

Select from ribbon Tools>Application options>Drawings>Default drawind file type>idw. Then you can save your prefered template as standard.idw in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2016\Templates"

In the image below you can see, that I've drawn a line across the title block of my "standard.idw" file, and it appears when I create a new drawing from it

Yup, this worked.

I set the options correctly but I didn't realise that the template file had to be named "standard" for it to pick it up properly. Once I renamed the template file it worked perfectly.

Thanks.
