Cutting a Cam Gear Tooth at an Angle

Hello,

I am trying to cut some angled gear teeth for a cam through the following steps.

Split a Face on first face of cam
Split a Face on other face of cam
Create a Loft with remove option using the two previous faces created.
However, I am not getting the desired results as there is some extra material remaining that the loft does not reach. Please see attached ipt part and snapshot below.

Hi! I don't believe Loft is the right workflow to use in this case. Machining process should be as precise as possible. Loft is a freeform tool which creates under-defined geometry. The correct workflow to use is Solid Sweep (sweeping a volume along a helical path). Please take a look at attached part.

Many thanks!

yes this is perfect! I was having a lot of difficulty creating a 3d sketch as the sweep profile. It looks like a 3d sketch can be created by projecting from a 2d sketch straight on to the curved surface and then use that 3d sketch as the path! Thanks!!
