Did you try Coil?

Have you installed Service Pack2?

Why does iProperties indicate this was started in r2013?

I would not migrate part templates.

Seems like a coil.

Or if you need to have it cut square, I would make it a sweep. That would take a little extra creativity.

Actually, after trying, the sweep seems to have problems that I don't currently have time to sort out. Anybody out there have any ideas why this sweep isn't working? I get self-intersection, but I was thinking I could still manage making this sweep work. Is that what is stopping me?

EDIT: Wow, so I also just noticed (new to 2015?) that a sweep has the option of a "Twist". Set that equal to 360deg*3 and presto. I believe you get a very simliar result (perhaps the same) as the coil. But you do have to define a path for the sweep along the centerline of the part.

See attached.

So after a little more playing around with the model (despite the comment I made on time before), I found a way for the sweep to work. It works by cutting the profile in half and doing a circular pattern to create the opposite side. I'm not completely certain if the self-intersection was the issue but I do know that this does work and I believe it acheives the expected outcome.
