Custom Synchronous Belt not showing

I followed the instructions here in order to create a new custom belt and pulley, however, when I open the design accelerator, the belt is not there. Is there an additional step in order to use a custom belt? I have tried importing my custom Sbelt.xml file into the Synchronous Belts Component Generator, however I just got an error.

Thanks.

Hi! The behavior you described here does not sound right to me. Could you share an example and how you created the belt in the first place?

Many thanks!

I am trying to create an 8mm pitch synchronous belt. Inventor only has 2.5,5,10, and 20 mm pitch belts. So I followed the instructions here, and created a new Custom file in the Design Data directory/file. In this custom file, I wrote in the code for an 8mm belt and a corresponding pulley, just as instructed in the link above. When I was done following the instructions and creating all the new custom files for the belt, I clicked the Design tab in Inventor and opened the Synchronous Belt Component Generator dialog box.belt dialog box.PNGinventor belts.png

In the dialog box, I clicked the drop down arrow that shows you all available belts, but my custom belt was not there. I could only see the standard belts, as you can see in the second picture.

Hi! I did take a look at the instruction and tried adding a custom Belt and Pulley. It seems to work for me. There is some misinformation in the instruction though. The default \Design Data\ folder path is no longer under \Program Files\. Instead, it should be the below path change "201X" with the Inventor release you have.

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 201X\Design Data\

As long as the xml files are formatted correctly, it should work. I am able to see a new synchronous belt in the dialog. Could you take a look and let me know what you find?

Many thanks!

Hi.

I have the same problem.

I have created custom belt in that directory:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2019\Design Data\Design Accelerator\Tables\_Custom\SBelts\Belts

But I do not see that belt in the Design Accelerator window.

Do I have to configure something els int Inventor?

Hi,

as Johnson stated, it works ... Use my XML files created based on help/instruction - _Custom.zip

I apologize for replying to an old thread, but I'm having the same issues. I'm trying to add the Gates PolyChain belts to our synchronous belt library, and have followed the steps listed out here: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Inventor-Define-ad...

@mtmarchant What's your used Inventor version? If possible, can you share your custom files in here and we can take a look?
