Custom iProperty in BOM with same name as standard iProperty

I'm a little too far gone with something and will change it next time but if there is a solution for this it would be great.

I have created Custom iProperty "Material" . In here is entered much more specific material information than what comes out of the box from Inventor material library. This custom iProperty auto fills the drawing title block. This part works fine.

What I want to do is add this Custom iProperty to the BOM but as there is already a standard iProperty "Material" is doesn't seem to allow it to come through using the "Add Custom iProperties Columns" button.

Anyone know of a workaround? For next time the Custom iProperty will be changed to "Material (for Title Block)" or similar which achieves what I want.

Thanks

Hi Gary.

You should be able to change the name of the custom iproperty even now in order to pull it into the BOM.  And then, the column heading in your parts list can be changed as well to whatever you want.  I hope this helps.

Hi Gary,

I've noticed the same behaviour after upgrading to 2023 - we have never used the system Material property, instead a custom iProperty named Material.

Now it's not possible to add this column in the BoM for editing / checking, and iLogic export routines randomly select Filename instead of the custom Material.

Was the only way of rectifying this to change the iproperty name? The problem with that for me is the amount of existing data that would require updating.

Thanks

Hi! I could be wrong but I am not aware of a change in behavior. I have seen similar issues reported in the past which had something to do with duplicate property names (system vs custom). Inventor can get confused and pick the wrong one to display.

Please share the files that exhibit the behavior here or send them in zip to me directly [email protected]. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!
