Custom Content Library (Assembly)

Hi everyone.

What i am looking for, is the ability to make an overview with all our small sub-assemblies available in a library like "content center" so that it would be easy to add to our main assembly that we are working on.

I know that it is possible to make custom library with "parts" but i can´t seem to publish an "Assembly" with batch publish.

Really looking forward for your inputs 🙂

Inventor content center only works with parts.  For this create a Inventor library and define your assembly needs there.  Use the library section of your Inventer project file.

But i have already made a custom library which i tried to publish an assembly to, but it would only let me select .ipt and not .iam.

Could you please elaborate 🙂 ?

A custom content center library is different from an Inventor library.  Again Inventor library is a designated area on your hard drive or shared network location to host common parts and assemblies.   It's kind of a fake read only area.  Meaning when you designate it in your Inventor project file and place files in there no one can change them.  Inventor content center is a different type of interface and only works with parts and features.

Hi! This is indeed a limitation in CC Library. Currently, it only works for parts, not assemblies. I have heard similar requests before but we have not found a good solution yet. In the meantime, you could gather these assemblies in a Library folder for reuse purpose. The only drawback is that you don't have a Content Center-like dialog to select and place. Also, you cannot generate such assembly on the fly. They all have to be on disk.

Many thanks!

Any chance that this will change?

There is one area where assemblies seem to be supported and that is in the Mold Library. It has assemblies that can be placed into a Mold Design AIM. For me, It would be nice to learn how to publish an assembly there so that I could import custom mold bases but I can foresee the need to be able to do this in other environments besides Mold.

Hi! Unfortunately, it is not yet available. We have heard the request. But, it is not yet fulfilled. Here is a similar request on Inventor Ideas forum. Please vote for it.
