Ctrl + C copy shortcut not working in Copy Component dialog box

I've noticed recently that attempting to use Ctrl + C to copy the file location will sometimes not actually copy the text properly. I tested in another application and Ctrl+C worked fine there, so it's something wrong with that dialog box specifically. I can still right click and select copy to properly copy the selected text, and Ctrl+V still pastes copied text fine.

I suspect inventor thinks you're still selecting the components and copies them instead of the highlighted text, since attempting to paste will close the dialog box and paste a copy of the selected components. It appears to only occur if you select the components you want to copy before starting the Copy Component command.

I am on the most recent patch of inventor 2019.

Hi! The behavior does not look right to me but I cannot seem to reproduce it on 2019.4. Have you installed 2019.4 update?

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue Yes, I am on inventor 2019.4, build 330. Just to be clear the only time I experience this behavior is when I have some components selected before starting the copy component command, if you start the command and then select the components to copy I can copy and paste the file path with Ctrl+C just fine.

Hello @AdamAG99T I see what you are trying to say, so you are trying to paste the destination path in the dialog but it instead pastes a new part in to the assembly.

If you go and copy text from another location it will paste into the dialog. If the last thing you copied was a part, it will paste that part. It seems that the Copy function does not work within this dialog box.

I will forward to development to see if any improvement can be made.

Thank you for the reply,

Since it seems like I am unable to show keyboard inputs directly in a screencast I'll explain exactly what I do. I select the part, start the copy command, click to change the file location to User Path as shown, then highlight the text and press Ctrl+C, then highlight the other text and press Ctrl + V. The window closes immediately upon pressing Ctrl+V and copies the part into the same assembly as seen, I don't press any other keys like enter or esc, or click anything else, just Ctrl + V.

I do have a few external rules but they only work on drawings, not part files, so I doubt they are the cause. I will try removing them when I have the chance just to be safe. This happens on every file I have tried it on, so I don't think the specific file would be the cause either. To be clear I have no other problems using Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V elsewhere in inventor or any other software, just this one instance. This also only occurs when I have selected a part prior to starting the copy component dialog, if I start the copy component command and then select the parts Ctrl+c/Ctrl+V work fine.
