Creating open line on 3D object for plasma cutting

How do I create a line on a 3d part that when converted to DXF will show as just an open line when imported to sheet cam???? I want the plasma to cut down these lines so I can use them for bending parts but inventor will only allow me to vreate a 3D feature that then becomes a loop in sheet cam.

One method..

Create a new sketch on the face where you want it... Draw your lines.. finish the sketch

Right click on the sketch in the model browser and select "export sketch as" and save as dxf or whatever..

Note either project the borders of your part or check the "auto project part edges....." in tools..application options..sketch tab   prior to creating the sketch..
