Creating holes with rectangular array

Someone please help me with the array problem.

I have created two separate holes at either end of my folded metal sheet.  Now, I need to places as many holes between them as possible with a length of approximately 100 mm between two adjacent holes.  I tried the rectangular array, but the arrow kept pointing at out of plane direction.  I think I am doing something wrong.

Can someone point me to the right direction?  Yes, pun intended.  Thanks.  Smiley Wink

A tutorial video would help a lot too.  Thanks.

Select an edge or axis for the direction of the array, not the face. After that, it's a simple matter to calculate the quantity of holes via length and spacing parameters. (Use "floor" or "ceiling" as necessary in your equation.)

You can improve it using parameters too

Thanks for the help Admaiora.  It worked.

Another quick question please.  If I want to delete the 2nd or 3rd hole or whichever hole I desire.  How would I go about doing so?

I tried selecting it and hit delete, but it does not work.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Occurrences created by pattern cannot be deleted. However, you can suppress it( RMB on it/Select 'Suppress').

Thanks

Hi @CalmWind,

You can suppress occurrences (generated from the pattern) from within your Browser per your design need.

  • Expand the Rectangular Pattern feature from within the browser to expose all the occurrence nodes
  • Right click on a Occurrence (it will cross-highlight within the graphics area so you can see the selected feature)
  • Select Suppress

Hope this helps some.
