Creating advanced section views

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on a part at the moment and need to create an advanced section view in order to check if my model looks correct. I've tried to use the advanced section view under the inspect tab, but I can't seem to get it working.

The image of the sections A-A and B-B are attached.

Section A-A and B-B are not straight sectionsSection A-A and B-B are not straight sections

Could any one explain to me how I could create these sections? I am using Inventor 2018.

Hi! I believe you need to use Aligned Section View in Drawing environment. The Section View in Inspect tab shows you the virtual section in 3D. You may not be able to measure since the actual model is not cut.

Here is what you can create the Aligned Section View in Drawing. Create a based view of the part exactly like shown in the image. Then create a sketch on top of the view. Create two lines exactly like AA section. Click on Section View button -> select the sketch line -> pick a direction. You will see the section view rotates the sections. Repeat the process for BB section. Here is the Help documentation describes the same process.

Many thanks!

Thank you both very much, this is really helpful!

I was just wondering if there is any way that I can create the same section view in the modelling environment? Instead of having to go into the drawing environment? It just makes it easier to model when you have the section view in the modelling space because I can edit and modify the part without having to create an .idw file.

Hi Nicolas,

Of course, you can! You have to create two workplanes and leverage quarter section view to do so.

Refer more from below video.
