Hi all,

I have a problem with dimensions in drawing detail view. I have a sheet metal part with punch. Punch is derivated from my ipt. When i dimensioning a entities in base view, everything is alright. But when i try to add dimensions in detailed view, there is a error about probles with definitions points in geometry: Create Linear Dimension: problems encountered while executing this command.
One or more of the definition points are no longer attached to the geometry.  Drag the dimension definition points to reattach the dimension

I try to find out, if there is not some bad definition in punch model (IPT) but i dont know what is wrong.

I attached IPT file with IDW and model of punch

Cant anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Hi Victor,

It seems a bug and was tracked in internal system as Bug 138526.

Thanks for reporting.

Has any progress been made on this yet? I believe I am experiencing the same problem with diameter. I am dimensioning an arc, and I am right clicking for diameter. It displays the correct dimension, but I get the attached error, which is similar to what the original poster experienced. Since the arc is only a partial circle, I don't have a second point to attach to. I should mention that this is an ipart factory and the shape you are seeing is a helix, which is why it's not a full circle. Can I override or work around this? What's strange is that this used to work fine and I've done it on many similar drawings. Now if I touch this dimension in any of my old drawings where this had been successful, I will get the same error and it will turn pink. The only thing that I can think of that might be a related change is my style library.
