Create Content Center Library from .iam/.step

Hello to all community members,

This time I´m having some trouble with Content Center Libraries. I would like to create a library from files in .iam/.step format. I work with pipes and fittings and some suppliers have provided CAD files for some products, for example a whole line of valves; these valves are in individual files so they are not iAssemblies/iParts. 

How could I create a new Content Center Library from .iam/.step files?

I have noticed that Conter Center Libraries are in .idcl format, but that´s the complete library.

Hope someone could guide me.

Unless something has changed in one of the recent releases you can only publish parts to content centre. 

Step files can be converted to ipts and assemblies can be derived into ipts. If you are using the tube and pipe environment you can only author parts anyway.. 

An alternative if you need read only access to assemblies is to have a library set up under your project file.

I'm doing something similar right now with conduit. I've had to either find native Inventor files or create stuff from scratch in order to get it to be table driven. Without having direct access to sketches/parameters, there wasn't a good way to make a table driven part. I know it is probably not the info you wanted to hear. You could put individual parts in and only have one option for that family, this would behave somewhat like a library. You could also put all the parts in a library that is hopefully write protected.

Edit: Something I just remembered is Inventor ships with valves in Content Center. You could always use these as a starting point for your own library

Hi! Indeed, Inventor Content Center does not support assembly yet. You can only publish parts to CC.

Thank you @gcoombridge , for now Inventor doesn´t support .iam files for this task, so i´ll try ti find a way.
