Create a Standard Parts Library

Can someone recommend or suggest the best way to create a standard parts library in Inventor? I need to create several flanges, spouts, reducers and retarders of different sizes. I would also like the option of locking the parameters of the parts to prevent any changes.

Create all your parts and utilize iparts if you want...

Save them all in a location that you will then define as a library location to your new inventor project file..

Files in the library are read only..

Typically people that may do that have 2 project files.. One to allow modification of the library location files and one that has them as a library location to not allow them to work..

You can also look into creating a custom content center if you want to go through all that..

Instead of having a different ipart for every size of a component, does inventor have table driven parts lets say a bolt....i model a cylinders to represent shank length, thread length and head type with parameters and have a spreadsheet linked to it which then inputs the data to the parameters of the part causing it to change shape to that of the desired part?

That's exactly what iParts and the Content Center do-- table-driven parts.
