Covert all Raster View to Precise view before exporting - Error message

Dear Inventor Experts

I hope this message finds you all well.

I am currently attempting to export an Autodesk Inventor drawing to a DXF file for laser cutting purposes. However, I am encountering the following message during the export process:

"Please convert the raster views to precise views before exporting."

Could you please clarify what this message means and advise on how to resolve the issue? Any guidance on converting the views appropriately to enable a successful DXF export would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

Hi! This usually means one of the views in the target drawing file is in Raster mode (image-based view). Such views cannot be exported to dwg/dxf. Run an Update Design task in Task Scheduler (make sure "Make all Raster views precise" option is checked). Another possibility is that a drawing view is stuck and cannot be updated in parallel. Go to Inventor -> Tools -> App Options -> Drawing -> uncheck "Enable background update" option at the bottom.

Many thanks!

I have the same issue at the moment. I would expect it could be solved by RMB on the drawing in the browser and "make all views precise" but it doesn't change anything (not even after making all views raster, save and make them precise again and save) which is odd, because the browser shows all views as precise views. I ran into this issue in inventor 2023 btw. new drawing, just created. it is even weirder; I deleted all the views present and it still gives this popup while there are no views present anymore. please explain autodesk?

Update; I just copied all views to a new drawing and this drawing had no problems any more; somehow the original drawing was corrupt

Hi! Or there is bad geometry that Inventor had trouble computing the precise views. Another workflow to try is to go to Tools -> App Options -> Drawing -> uncheck "Enable background updates." In some cases, it may help get past the raster views. But the overall drawing views compute may become slower due to disabling multi-threading view compute.

Many thanks!

I checked this option and the box was already unchecked. I don't really see how "bad geometry" is fixed by copying all the views to a new document, but in this case it worked for my drawing and hopefully this helps other people when they run into this issue.
