How can I close this and make into solid?

Do you have access to the original SolidWorks *.sldprt file?

The geometry is very poorly done.

Go ahead and Attach the *.sat and *.igs to see if they are any better, but I suspect the best course of action is to start over and model the geometry correctly from scratch.

The request was to convert to a solid.

You are still missing numerous surfaces.

SolidWorks (the source of the file) indicated 59 issues.

it would take way more to make the model "water tight" but the added surfaces will get you visually 90% of the way there. The workflow should be at the bottom of the tree.....just 4 sketches and a couple of swept arcs.

Must have misread, I thought he just wanted fill in surfaces for looks.

JD , Solidworks? how could you? 

I used Transmagic for years but I am finding most models are coming in as good solids now. It must be as the shrink wrapping tools get better? It seems like years ago when vendors tried to hide proprietary features they would tweak the model so it would come in water tight.

Hi! The file was poorly exported from SWX2010. There is a lot of bad geometry in it. You can use Repair Bodies workflow (right-click on the Composite node -> Repair Bodies -> Find Errors -> Heal Errors -> Stitch the composite). I tried it but I still got bad geometry.

It depends on what you want to do with this particular file. If you just want to close the gaps, you can use Boundary Patch to cover the openings and try to stitch them back to a solid (it may not work due to pre-existing badness).

If I were you, I would simply recreate the whole part in Inventor. The geometry is very straight forward. It can be done in 10~15 minutes.
