Copy object with rotation

For a project that I am working on, I have created an object .4mm x .4mm x 75mm. The .4mm x .4mm surface is the front face with the 75mm extending away from the origin. I want to copy that object about 60 times around the z axis at different angles. I would see that I would want to select the object and copy and rotate it in a for loop.

@wdherh2 do you mean you'd like to array the object? something like this?

I believe that an array evenly distributes the number of objects you select across the number of degrees you select. I want to be able to specify the angle, of each object, relative to the reference object.

In an assembly environment, you can use angle constraints.

And others constraints to remove all degrees of freedom from each instance of the component.

@wdherh2  Are you trying to "copy and rotate" these in the context of an assembly or "copy and rotate" the solid 60X in the context of the part file?

@wdherh2 I agree with @kacper.suchomski , if each of those need to be different you might be doing this the "long". You can create copies of the Solid and use the "Move Bodies" tool in the "modify" pull-down, but first you'd need to copy the solids before moving them.

 

The Move Bodies tool will give you individual location, rotation and scale of each copy

Thank you for the instructional video. It will be time consuming, but I can do this.

 

If I wanted to do the same thing as a sketch, to be extruded afterwards, would there be an automated approach to creating each of the lines extending from the origin, where each line could have a specific angle relative to a reference line?

@wdherh2 Similar, just draw out all your sketch line, (and you will still have access to them in the parameters to change later), then you can extrude each as a separate solid from the origin.

This can be done with a sketch-driven pattern:

The trick here is to provide a circular surface as the orientation reference (Faces).  The attached file is Inventor 2025 format.
