Copy object from one part to another

Trying to get my head around this, I was silly enough to draw a new part though it looks almost the same as the first one. In my first part I have a multiple skteched geometry on a cylinder face. It contains of 4 sketches. I want that copied as simple and easy peasy as possible in to the second one, I`ll illustrate

You can copy both feature sketches and features themselves between parts.  You can only do this one at a time.  With both you may have to reconstrain your sketch and you will definitely have to reconstrain your copied feature sketch.  Take a look at the Screencast and see it answers your question.

Please consider adding your Inventor models next time which will both speed up possible answers but also will allow the reply to be applied directly to your model.

What was stated is correct.  You can simply copy/paste.

You can also create an iFeature as well.

@Cadmantocould you point out to me where the copy option is when rightclicking on the extrusion? I have seen that been done in older versions of Inventor, but not in 2018.

I worked myself around the issue, if it`s the right way I don`t know, but I used copy object in assembly and copied the solid on to a new sketch and edited it until I got the part I wanted. Perhaps I also could use "save as copy" and edited that one into the new part. Anyway, the "copy object" option is a bit tricky it looks like something sketchy is going on, until I open the new part in a separate window and move away from sketching directly in the assembly.

What`s best practice? I don`t know, but I sure would like to see a bunch of best practice tutorials just to learn how to draw smart, making parts adaptive to one another. Make myself understand how thing is done, not just do stuff because I saw a good video, I can`t benefit from that. Understanding is Knowing

@Anonymous if you want to copy a feature from one part to another you have to paste it with similar starting locations.

In your example, the extrusion hole is placed from a sketch tangent to the cylinder surface. If you drew the part using revolve cut from a side profile, you'd have to paste the part to the similar corresponding plane.

If you copy the feature, on placement it will ask for the surface the sketch wants to be placed on like @Cadmanto shows.

If there is no plane setup the feature won't be able to recognize where it supposed to be aligned to.

Hope that makes sense.
