Copied a project from the cloud - assemblies still reference the old parts

Hello. I am using Inventor 2019 and I am working on a rather large project with a large amount of assemblies and about 1600+ total parts.

I was working with a fellow in Canada temporarily, which required the use of a cloud based file management system. We used fusion team and it worked well, but now his part of the scope is complete, and since I was only using the free trial, I downloaded the whole project to work on it locally.

The problem is, when I open the assembly files, they reference the old parts on the cloud. I am using project files which I thought would handle all of that, but I have been proven otherwise. My fear is that if I don't resolve this quickly, I will be in a bigger mess when the free trial expires and I no longer have access to the cloud files.

Is there a way to quickly change the references of these assemblies to the parts that I have locally?

Hi! If I understood how it works correctly, this largely depends on how your project is set up. Where is the \Workspace\? Is there any Library path referencing Fusion team path? As long as the component files reside in either under \Workspace\ or within one of the Library paths, the files should be found by Inventor on open. It will be great if you can share the files so we can take a look. Or, you can just share screenshots of Project dialog and settings.

Many thanks!

Hi, and thanks for the quick response!

Here are some pictures for context. I can't upload the files because of proprietary reasons. I can however provide the screenshots of the locations and settings. Please see them below.

Pic 1/4 shows the location of the assembly, files and sub folders that contain parts for sub assemblies.

You mentioned having the libraries set in the project file which I don't. Could setting the sub-folders as libraries solve the problem?  I am going to try and see. Are there any other methods of changing the assembly file's references? I tried using pack and go to do it, but they still referenced the cloud parts also. It's just plain weird.

Hello,

First, can you check whether you have assembly file "Vat frame-W" and it's parts in you local drive. May be it didn't get copied from cloud to your local.

2nd, Can you try to export/ pack&go project from top level assembly to your local instead of coping files from cloud.

attached link to export files from cloud:

Thank you,
Subhash.

Yes, I have actually been working with the files for a while now, and nothing has appeared out of the ordinary because the sub assemblies are actually all in the local folder. The problem is when I open any of them, they are still referencing the old files. That one assembly is just an example.

I am going to try the export/ pack and go method you mentioned.

It won't let me edit my post from yesterday, but here's the update.

I tried pack n go and it successfully moved the files, but when I open the assemblies they are still referencing the cloud models. It's blowing my mind. I'm going to try setting some workgroup search paths to the sub folders, but does anyone know how to actually change an assembly's reference files? I am afraid I just need to do it part by part just to get it done. I know I can go to component > replace > select the part on the local drive. Is there possibly a vba macro that would sort of force the program to get away from the cloud and look in the workspace?
