converting STL file

Hello...I have an STL file that someone sent me. A simple shelled 3D sculpted object with the bottom side open. I need to open the file to add fillets and threading to the object. However, I am using Inventor 2013 and I can't open it. Is there a way I can convert the file so that I can add the fillets and threading? The STL file is attached below.....thanks

2013?  No way

You have to process your file in another softwarem then import again in Inventor (and even at that point forget to apply in a simply way fillets chamfer, etc, the stl will have a "meshed" shape)

Hi! I suggest you look into Fusion 360. It has a dedicated Mesh Design environment where you can convert the mesh to Brep and also build more mesh geometry.

Inventor has very limited mesh modeling ability. The mesh is mainly used as a reference to recreate the precise model.

Many thanks!

That is not simple geometry.

I will make significant wager you will not get very far with that geometry in Fusion 360 either.

What is your end goal with this design.

Where do you want to add Fillets (not possible with this geometry - my suspicion is remove "cylindrical" base and replace with proper cylindrical geometry.)

Where do you want to add Thread (not possible with this geometry - my suspicion is remove "cylindrical" base and replace with proper cylindrical geometry.)
