Converting a object from inventor to revit, and reducing the size of my file.

So like it sais in the headline i want to "Convert a object from inventor to revit, and reducing the size of my file." Im not an architect nor am i an engeneer im an animator so i dont know ANYTHING about this program. Pleas help me export this file and reduce the size of it so it can fit into revit!

Hi!

 

Dont use adsk files.

Instead of this, convert your inventor files as SAT format an d import in Revit.

Well I understand you are not versed in the software, but there are some tools you can try to reduce the overall footprint of the Inventor model.  If you don't do this, the file size in Revit will be too large to work with.  Your goal should be to get the file under 1 MB in size.  I've attached a document you can go through if you are brave enough to jump in feet first.

 

The handout is a little dated as now in newer versions of Inventor you can save out as revit family directly.  The problem in general with the SAT export is you will lose your colors and materials in Revit if you care about that.
