Convert stl to stp,step

Hello,

I would like to kindly ask for a help. I have tried so many times make stp from stl. It is stl of 3d scanning of leg. I can not edit it to solid to stp. I have tried in freecad but it crashes during operation "create shape from mesh". I can send you that stl by email, because I have problems with internet transfer right now, hope someone can help me and make a solid in stp. Thank you in advance guys!

Have you added the mesh enabler (https://apps.autodesk.com/INVNTOR/en/Detail/Index?id=6950391119076900441&appLang=en&os=Win32_64) for Inventor?  Are you a student?

Also users of the forum do not share emails with other users for security reasons.  Use your free A360 account to post or attach the STL file here if its under 5mb.

How complex is this STL file?

Also Inventor version you're using..

Complex. Yes I am a student. It has about 500k polygons, before conversion it was 10 mln. I can not make less polygons, because I will lose important shape. The file is about 25mb. Could you help me please ?:)

Inventor 2017, I have installed mesh enabler but I do not have this command "convert to base feature"

Hi, You have to load mesh enabler from addin management dialog via Tools -> Add-ins -> load it.

Then, you will find a command in the context menu. Enjoy!

I think, your file needs some cleaning-up as STL mesh. Even if you have thousands of tiny triangles, they are not precise. Look at the screenshots.

Hey there, I have made stp, but still have polygons. Guys do you know how to make solid and smooth surface from this? I do not want polygons just smooth surface 🙂 Thank you in advance

This leg has problems at the knee front. There are internal surfaces beneath the outside.

I've tried some actions using Rhino, and ended with a solid, not the very best quality. I think, it can be improved.

Thank you 🙂 that is great, only 1 more question is it possible to do it a little bit longer? Please find attache for area. Thank you in advance. The knee joint is not so important for me (front area) so holes are acceptable, but maybe it is possible to fullfill them?

Sure you could get a longer leg, but it's now with this length.

I've used Rhino's Drape function for getting the solid.

- Drape from Right

- Drape from Left

- Boolean combine of both

Result is getting better with additional two drapes from Front and Back

Regarding the deep grooves see attachment (2017 IPT).

- Create circles around the grooves

- Split surface with them and delete the small cutouts

- Patch the holes

- Stitch all together for getting back a solid body

I will try to do it in my own, but I have never used rhino before, so if it is possible could you please make leg 100 mm longer in each side ?

Thank you in advance and sorry for that, but knee brace must be a little bit longer. Of course I will show you my projects after finishing 🙂

And thank you for your help.

I would have been better, looking not at all at this leg geometry. It took lots of time. Response time could be better.
