Convert reference part to "normal" part for BOM inclusion

Using Inventor 2023.02

I've designed a transportation box for a pick up truck. It's a frame of aluminium profiles with 25 mm boards in between.

Now I'm supposed to make a drawing of the assembly with BOM and balloons to present for the guys in the workshop. Problem: one of the profiles have become a "Reference" and a doesn't show in the BOM and can't be "ballooned".

How can I convert it to a regular part in the assembly?

I would assume right-clicking the part in the assembly was the way, but there is no "Normal" option.

I did expect something like this:

Hi @EdvinTailwind,

If you open the part (profile) file and go to Tool>Document Settings>Bill Of Materials what is the BoM structure of that part set to? Have a look at this and set it to normal in this instance and you should then get what you desire

There is another way, if you open your assembly and open the Bill of Materials there, go to Model Data tab and you can change the Bom Structure there also

Hi! Just to clarify the behaviors here, there are two levels of BOM structure property control. The document setting dictates the default BOM structure property when the given component is placed to an assembly. The "Default" in the right-click context menu in an assembly is based on the target component's doc setting.

The instance-level toggle between "Default" and "Reference" is a way to deduct the particular instance of the component from the BOM table. Such setting is stored in the assembly or BOM hosting the instance, not in the component document itself.

Many thanks!

This shows that the BOM Structure is set to Reference in the component's Document Settings.  Therefore, there is no possibility to be anything else.  Change the component's document level BOM Structure to Normal-- then you can choose between Normal (the default setting) and Reference for each instance.
