Content Center Description Issue

Our Content Center is custom and mostly created using standard libraries included with Inventor and just expanded upon these components.  Recently our custom descriptions have started falling apart.  I add a part number to an existing component in the content center and do a "Refresh" and it loses its description.  See attached photo.  Background is the Content Center editor and in front is the part in question with the iProperties pulled up.  Red is the "Filename" which matches and blue is the "NGSG Description" that don't match at all.  6 flanges updated yesterday on the refresh and all show to be 16" - 300# S/STD.  Has anyone else run into this?  We are using Inventor Professional 2014 SP2 Update 6.

Thanks,

Casey

I know the images show the difference but it doesn't really helping us determine the root cause..  Smiley Wink

Did someone change the family template?

Is the mapping of the column property in the family table still going to that custom description?

Are you sure  the content center components didn't get redirected via Tools/Application Options/Files tab or via folder options under the active Inventor project file.  Just making sure you are looking at the correct location where your CC are located.

Is the issue only related to this Content Center Family?  There may be corruption in the library but only speculating.

When a CC is placed into an assembly, where is the CC being placed for each user?  Local hard drive or on the network?   Does this also happen to anyone that pulls the CC component or only certain end-users

If the CC components are being placed locally..  For a test, close out Inventor and delete the entire CC directory on a that machine.   Start a new assembly and place the CC that is getting the wrong description.  Does it work now?

Update:  Forgot to tag @cbenner for his input..  Chris any other thoughts?

The blue text in your Content Center family table columns means that the value of the cell is actually being pulled from another source.  That source can be seen in the Column Properties for that column.  When you added these new line items to the family, did you manually enter the information in those cells?  Or are the new items still using the column properties? (I think this is what @Mark.Lancaster was asking as well).  Could you show us a screen shot of the column properties for the Description column, as well as a shot of the new line items you added to the family table?

Mark,

Ha, if I had the root cause I wouldn't be here!  🙂

"Is the mapping of the column property in the family table still going to that custom description?"

I fought this on a different family a couple days ago and checked everything.  Only option on the other family was to remove the "Description" link to the custom column and then add the link back in.  I failed to check the "Description" link on this on.  That was my issue!  Boneheaded mistake.  Thanks for the help guys!

All these failures didn't start until I hired a new employee so I will look further into the root cause of these issues a bit more and get back with you if I find something on his computers that isn't linking correctly.

Thanks,

Casey
