Constrain edges of freeform plane

I am trying to constrain the edges of a FreeForm plane so that i am free to edit the plane without disrupting the integrity of the periphery. In short i am making a organic shape but the edges has to have a flange. It's very important that this flange is a proper plane, completely flat etc. Therefore i have made a flange in regular surface modeling and then try to constrain the freeform surface edge using "Match edge". This does not seem to work at all.

Other than that, is it possible to fix constrain the edges of a freeform plane so that i can edit it like previously mentioned? and then add the flange afterwards?

I want the freeform plane in the image to connect with the inner edge of the flange

I made this as an example due to confidentiality

Thanks in advance,

F

Hi! If I understood your request correctly, you want to constrain the Freeform (upstream feature) to the Flange edges (downstream), right? This cannot be done because the Inventor geometry is history based.

You need to reorder the flange to be above the Freeform. Then you can edit the Freeform and match the edges. Is this what you are looking for? If not, please share a non-proprietary example here.

BTW, Fusion 360 has more extensive Freeform modeling capability. You may consider using it for this particular design.

Many thanks!
