Computer running slow

Hello, my computer was working fine with Inventor 2016, but over the last few days I have noticed that the computer is "dragging" a bit. I am having a hard time just rotating a part in an assembly? My computer specs are shown below and I have the latest certified video card driver installed.

 I am running a Nvidia K4000 video card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Run the Task Manager in Windows and see what's taking your resources. Things such as Display and part rotation are controlled by the GPU and not the CPU. Check that all the above-board power cables that plug into the side of the graphics card are well seated.

I also doesn't hurt to get a can of compressed CO2 and blow out all the coolers for both the CPU and GPU. If you are in a dusty environment, these items can get plugged reducing the cooling. This can cause the units to "throttle back" if they become overheated.

Good old system reboots don't hurt either. Make sure that you are also on the latest Microsoft certified drivers for your machine/graphics card. Doing a "clean" install that removes all old drivers and settings can help as well.

And run a virus/malware scan.. seen that bring computers to a crawl before..

Also set any A-Virus software to exclude all Inventor files.

I created a pack and go of the assembly and opened it locally to see if it was a network issue, but the problem of rotating one of the parts in the assembly was still there. So I can assume that the network is not the issue. I can rotate the complete assembly with no problems but when I try to rotate one of the assemblies in the file, it is very choppy?

I cannot change the virus software settings as it is a corporate program and cannot be edited. I did clean out the temp files. I have  SSD drive.

Just did a rebuild and no difference

Just so its clear... This is a a problem with a specific dataset (assembly) and not allright???

If so that alone pretty much rules out network/PC issues and would indicate a problem of some sort tied directly to that assembly..

Is it overly complex compared to others?

Any imported components?

Can you share the pack and go of that specific problem assembly?

Hello, no the problem is not restricted to one assembly. It happens with
any assembly that is a little complex, but still the file is only 400
parts. No imported parts. Where do I put the Pack N Go file (57MB)

dropbox? <<-- IMO this is the way to go.. everyone should have a dropbox account.. I love it.. I have it on my phone/work computer/home computer/tablet.. I can easily share whatever I want by simply putting it in my dropbox and voila.. its available on all my other devices.. oh and its free for the basic 2G storate space..

Have you tried messing with Tools..application options..display tab... min frame rate and display quality and then also have you tried changing tools..application options..hardware tab.. change to software graphics and restart Inventor then try again.. FYI.. I run the quality setting there without issues.

The funny thing about all this, is that if I have an assembly which contains one part plus another 350 part sub-assembly, for example, I can easily orbit the whole assembly, but have difficulties rotating only the 350 part sub-assembly?

Sound sto me like something is linked together in some way by constraints or similar. have you tried to set "defer update" under the assembly tab of applications options? that way you know if it is a heavy calculation or an adaptivity loop, or hardware issue.
