Compression spring Drawing

Hello guys,

  • I am trying to design a spring. After filling in all the parameters and performing the calculation, everything looks fine. The spring will generate fine as well.
  • The problem arises, when I want to make a drawing. The dimensions, specifically the pitch, do not fit.
    Where did I go wrong?
  • Parameters are (according to the accelerator table to) the pitch should be 5mm, the wire diameter 1mm, the length 17.25 and the outer diameter 24. Active coils 3.
But the pitch in the drawing is 7.29.

I am attaching a photo of the drawing and table from the accelerator.

Thanks for any sugestions.

Welcome to the Inventor forum.  What version of Inventor is this in?  Would you be able to share the part file with the group here?

Did you hit the calculate button? Do you get errors? This is what I get if I put in your values:

Also, you are setting the desired length you want to see, If you change it from custom to max/min loads it will show you the compressed states. Too bad there wasn't neutral, or unloaded. I'm wondering if you would see what you are expecting then. I am not a spring designer, but just a thought.

The eror is cause of the force, max and working load force vas 2N and minimal force 0,1N.

Its on the other page. Then when u hit calculate, there should be no eror.

well i though, that if i set the custom lenght the same as loose spring lenght, then it should be the same as neutral 😁

@johnsonshiue do we know someone who can take a look at this and see if it is a bug, or something related to the workflow?
