Compatibility of older versions of inventor with windows 10

Is it the new windows 10 compatible with the older versions of inventor? Such as 2013, 2014... I'd interested in downloading the student version of one of these. I had already installed before, but when I changed to Windows 10 from 7, the app didn't run anymore.

Autodesk says no.  (Which makes perfectly logical sense since all of these products were released before there was a Win 10.)

What errors are you getting with the older versions of Inventor on Windows 10?

Do you have the latests service packs and updates installed?

Thanks,

Danny

I can't gave you the error number, but it didn't let me run the app, neither open the inventor window. It showed that was something about not having the right permission. I'm afraid that there is a problem also with the current windows 10 installation because I can`t open the "file explorer". I will reinstall new windows and check if it gets fixed and reinstall inventor. Anyway, should I expect that the 2014 version of inventor, if I download it again, won't run with win 10 or should I give it another try? I insist on this because I have also installed AutoCAD 2014 before the win 10 emmigration, and it still runs ok besides the change. Inventor was the only problem.

Thanks for your time and help!

I would make sure that I've installed all the SP's and Updates for Inventor as well. If I remember correctly IV2014 needed at least SP1 for Win8.1

I'm running IV2016 on my home machine on Win10 on BootCamp and haven't noticed any issues.

"Boot Camp" you're one of those, are you?

Does Windows 10 have anything like the "Compatibly" settings that older Windows versions had?

I saw something about Permissions mentioned, could it have to do with needing to be logged on as an Administrator to use Inventor? Or maybe 10 handles permissions in a way that Inventor doesn't recognize.

Does 10 have the Professional, Home, Student type versions? Could that make someone have a different experience getting Inventor to run?

I assume there is no 32 bit version of 10, right? Would having a 32 copy of Inventor cause a problem (Or does that not matter in that direction)?

Drivers are still an issue, waiting for AMD to release Win10 drivers for the FirePro graphics card. Win10 is simular to Win8.1 with the same versions as Win8.1

It's available in both 32 and 64 bit versions. The only issue that I've seen with the later version of Inventor and Win10 is with .NET.

I would install Inventor and then all the SP's and Updates. If it will run on 8.1 it should run on Win10.

I had a machine at home pack it in and decided to try a new MacPro running Win8.1 on BootCamp. Just did the update to Win10 last week. I had a couple of issues but an install of the BootCamp drivers solved most of them.
