Coloured rectangles on part surface

Hi there,

I would like to add rectangles with filled colours on the surface of a part. The rectangle can be solid filled or hatched. I have tried Decal function with a coloured picture as the image but the image cannot be freely resized as the aspect ratio is fixed.

An example picture is shown below. It was drawn in AutoCAD with the rectangle hatched.
