Circular array of 3d projected sketch

I want to create a series of indented shapes around a cylinder. I have projected a 3D sketch to the surface and  split it but I can't seem to produce circular array from this.  Forum posts seem to say that 3D projected sketches can't be arrayed in this way. What is the solution?

After you create one, can you not just do a circular pattern at that point? Can you post what you are trying to do?

Hi! There are multiple ways to do this. You can thicken the split faces as a solid body. Then pattern the body however you like. Lastly, use Combine command to cut the solid tool from the main body.
