Changes to IPN part visibility not updating in Drawing Views

Not applicable

I have a drawing with multiple views of an IPN.

The IPN has multiple Views of the same .IAM with different visibilities.

I add a component to the .IAM that is needed in only 1 view, so I turn off visibility of the component in all other views in the .IPN.

When I open my drawing file, the new component still shows up in all Drawing Views, even though it is not visible in the .IPN views.

I have tried Updating All Sheets, etc, but the only solutions I have found are:

1. Re-Create the view or

2. Drill down in the drawing sidebar of the .IPN and manually right-click and turn off visibility of the component.

Both take quite a bit of time, when I simply want to add 1 component to a single view.

Why aren't my .IPN changes updating in my already created Drawing Views?

Hi all,

Some tips if you encounter the drawing view is not updated while changing in IPN or IAM.

1. There're two kinds of Snapshot views.

  • If it is linked to IPN timeline, makes sure the linked snapshot marker is located at the right time to show the related changes in timeline, and the snapshot view is up-to-date.
  • If it is a independent snapshot view which is not linked to timeline(no marker showing at the right-bottom corner of snapshot view thumbnail), you have to Edit the snapshot view which means enter Edit environment to make sure the snapshot view is up-to-date.
  • Note: do any transformation or visibility change in linked snapshot view will make the snapshot view become independent, after that the changes in animation/timeline will not reflect to the snapshot view and drawing view.

2. Make sure the Associative check box is checked in Drawing View dialog.

3. If you want to do some change in source IAM to reflect in drawing view, make sure you have the IPN associative with the source design view representation. If you break or override the association, the changes will not reflect to snapshot view and drawing view either.

If you still see the update problem after check above factors, please share the file to us and we could take a look if there's some data corruption in the file.
