Catenary mooring system

I wonder if anyone has created a catenary mooring line in Inventor?

I tried to create one in Inventor 2016 using the theory from http://abc-moorings.weebly.com/catenary-calculator.html but somehow it seems to go wrong when I type in the equation. Before entering the equation I tried to use parameters for the calculation of the sub-formulas, ut I don't get what I need.....

Hiope someone can help me on this!

Post screen shot of your formula entry.

I am sure this question has come up here before - a search might turn up prior discussions.

For formulas see attachment

I used the formula for y in the equation editor, for the formula for b etc.I used the parameters

A screenshot of the ipt is not availabler at the moiment, because of the errors I didn't save it.

I did search for the subject, but got not the result I was looking for.

Of course - what I meant for you to attach is the screenshot of how you were entering the formula in Inventor.
I am not sure how anyone is to guess what errors you have in your formula without seeing the forumula that you entered.

I got this in 2005 and I do not remember the source. Maybe it will help you.

@JDMather Of course I know what you mean, but I didn't have the time today to reproduce what I did.

I hope I have some time tomorrow in theafternoon to set up the ipt again.

I suspect it is a problem with units; When I look at the formula for "b" on the site I refered to, the unit for "b" should be 1/s2, but in the spreadsheet they present "b" is supposed to be unitless.

I have to dig in to it again, and will come back tomorrow.

Thanks, Ray, for replying. I had a quick look, but that didn't tell me enough. I've got to look better at the formulas in your example to know if this is what I'm looking for.

Man, I wish those links weren't dead right now. A search for catenary brought me here. Meanwhile whatever clever solutions exist on those posts are now withering in the ether...
