I have no problems creating a part but once I save that file and try to make changes to it later, I get a popup saying the part is not checked out to me, I attached a screenshot of the popup below. Any help would be appreciated not sure if im missing something obvious or not. All of the setting are default inventor settings.

You saved the part in a library folder, so the part is read-only.
Create a "copy as" on your project Work folder and you will be able to change it (the copy, not the original)
