Cannot Delete Unwanted Lines Of A Part In Drawing View?

When I try to select a line to delete on a part that doesn't need to be there, it won't let me like it normally would.

Notice the attached file, "Example #1", where it doesn't select one line like I want it to, it selects the whole part.

But notice the attached file, "Example #2", where it does select the line I want when I opened up a new drawing.

So, why is this happening and can it be fixed???

Attach *.ipt and associated *.idw or *.dwg files here that exhibit this behavior.

Hi, Maybe you are familiar with Autocad. You can not delete lines from a view, because the line is associated with the reference file. You can hide the line in the drawing view. Right click on the line you want to hide and select as detailed in the image.

I hope this helps. regards

Well, that's the problem I would do that but it won't even allow me to select a line. I can only select the entire part in the assembly drawing I have, not individual lines. Thank you though.

Hi! I have seen this behavior before. It was reported by a few users too. I just tried it on our internal build targeting 2020.1. I was able to select any line. It is possible it has been fixed on the coming 2020.1 update. In the meantime, try a trick to see if it helps mitigate the behavior. Open the part of interest -> Manage -> Rebuild All. Go back to the drawing. Now, are the view edges selectable?

Many thanks!

So when I restarted Inventor, it seemed to get rid of the issue. So I don't know what was wrong. But your solution to the problem also seems like it would have worked in fixing this problem. So thank you all for your time!

Is it possible to reverse this process?
Obviously when the line is there you have something to select to turn the visibility off, if I wanted to make it visible again can I do this - without having to delete the view and reinstate it. And please assume that I can't use undo because it's in a different session.

Thanks,

Simon

Yes.

I am not at my Inventor machine so I am going by memory, but right click on the view and you will see a prompt something like restore or unhide or retrieve (I forget the exact term but it should be obvious).

Select the option and then all hidden lines will be highlighted.  Select those hidden lines that you want to restore.
