Cannot Delete Harness Files From Vault Basic 2022

Hello,

So I have been working with cable & harness for months now (Inventor Professional 2022) to make a few simple harnesses. It has been a tough and grueling experience to learn all of the intricacies, however I am fairly able to create what I need now.

One big issue is I have many extra harnesses that I cannot delete from vault as they still show the assembly file I created the harnesses in as "parents" (see attachment image). The where used tab in vault shows 0 direct or total parents....

The file is deleted from the parent assembly model tree.

I have tried everything I can think of down to deleting everything inside of the harness files possible to no avail. Hopefully I'm am missing something simple?

Thank You.

The "Where Used" tab is only showing your latest (top) version relationships for the file selected.

Vault will restrain you from deleting things that were used once or more in previously-released versions of related files. There may be nothing you can do to the top version (current) that will allow you to delete this file, without admin access.

Always think (and show in your screenshots) of the file Lifecycle Definition, State, and Revision numbering when these issues come up. The reason is that Vault tries to keep intact (not broken/unresolved) any previous Revisions of the assemblies, in case someone goes down the history and tries to open/get a past revision to verify it.

Ask your administrator in Vault who can override the restriction and delete those. Or you can cheat around it by selecting the file(s) and rolling them back until a point you can simply delete them (Vault Client menu > Actions > Roll Back Lifecyle State Change...).

Thank you @Gabriel_Watson  for the detailed reply. I suspected the statement "File has version(s) with one or more parents:" meant this and I appreciate you confirming this for me. I'll discuss with my admin but probably just move the unwanted files into a tucked away folder for now.

Thank You!
