can't select parts only parts list

Hi. I'm doing an assembly drawing. See attachment. I've got multiple views based on different presentation views, all based on the same assembly. I want to put in a parts list but Inventor won't allow me to select parts only BOM type.

This is strange, as half way through doing the drawing, with just a few of the views, I was able to select it.

In my assembly BOM I have both structured and parts enabled.

I'm using INV 2014 SP2 (update 6), on Windows 8.1.

Any thoughts?

Have you already placed a Parts List based on this assy?

The only time I have seen this happen is if you try to add a second parts list for the same assy.

I noticed that if you try to insert a second parts list, you get the behaviour that you are experiencing because the BOM settings have already been defined for that assembly in the drawing.

However, I don't see another parts list in your browser, but I'm guessing that it is still remembering the settings from the first time you tried to place a parts list.

Hi

Have you placed a balloon?

If there is even one balloon, the parts list will be locked. You need to find it/them, delete it/them. this will allow you to change the parts list.

You can also have both formats displayed on one sheet, BUT only the first one placed will be associated with the balloons.
