Can't apply color to my part files in Inventor Pro 2021

I recently downloaded Autodesk Inventor Pro 2021, and it doesn't appear to let me apply color to my part files. When I click the color pinwheel, I try highlighting the part. But it only provides me with an eyedropper. I can't change the color of any of my parts! Any tips?

You should probably get some training.  The eyedropper and pinwheel are not the tools used to change part appearance (the term used in Inventor).  Instead, used the dropdown appearance list, or the appearance browser.  These are also used for individual solids, features or faces, depending on what's currently selected.

Here's a screenshot of the Appearance Browser--

The Eyedropper is going to pick up an appearance from a single face.

You can then click on a color from the Pinwheel to change the appearance.

Or

Select the top node of the part in browser (or a feature in the browser) with the Eyedropper and then the Pinwheel color choice.

Tip: Have you installed Update 1 for 2021?

How do I install update 1? Where can I find it?

I've been teaching Autodesk Inventor to high school students since 2014, so I'm not sure I need any extra training. For years, I've been able to highlight a part, click on the pinwheel (see picture) and change the color. When I do that now, it doesn't allow me to change the color.

iProperties indicates that you have not installed Update 1 as suggested.

I cannot locate the update for Autodesk Inventor Pro 2021. I only see updates for 2020 and earlier.

Is this it? This looks like a language pack.

I've already looked there. As you can see in the picture, I can only see updates through Inventor Pro 2020.

Hi! The behavior does not look right to me. When you window-select the part, none of the faces are highlighted, which is already wrong. I cannot reproduce the behavior.

Make sure all critical Windows updates are installed. Install 2021.1 update if you have access to 1. Lastly, try using Inventor Reset Utility (All Programs -> Autodesk -> Inventor 2021 -> Tools) to reset all settings back to install default.

Many thanks!
