Call up of custom dimensions in drawing

Hi,

One of our designer has the following problem and perhaps it can be improved in a next Inventor release:

001.jpg

I don't know if it is possible but I would like the tolerance box to resemble the first print screen but calling up a value from the 3D excel file (using iparts)

In the feature control frame, this value is underlined in red:

002.jpg

The goal would be to be able to call a value from the 3D excel file as you do it with the format text option (available on “Dimension”, “text” functions). See the following picture:

Thank you very much,

Cheers,

Sylvain

I don't know exactly what you mean by the 3D excel file. Can you explain?

However, I think your solution is possible if you find a way to map these parameters to the user parameters within the Inventor file.

You can then use the drop down parameters menu as you have shown:

Hello,

I work with Sylvain, the "3D excel file" was referring to the "ipart author worksheet" which in our case is used to drive all of the geometry of our iparts. What we wanted was to have a number called up from that "ipart author worksheet" to appear in a tolerance box in each ipart drawing. like the feature you describe but in the tolerance box.

Thanks,

Ah I understand!

You want to make the tolerance value parametric.

Perhaps add as a suggestion in the Inventor Ideas.

I'm not sure this is something that users would do very often though, as tolerances tend to be specific per feature rather than generically imported for a high volume of features. I'm not sure what your particular case is and why it is useful for you to have a tolerance as a parameter.
