I am wondering, what is the purpose of the size designation column?

To "Designate a size" if needed Smiley Wink.. Just another thing to sort by if you use it..

So it is in no way required for tube and pipe purposes or change size operations?

I don't use T&P nor CC so I can't comment on that..

I kind of doubt its required.. Have you tried to see if its required? (can you use T&P or change sizes without it being filled in)

I also don't use T&P... don't know how it works but I want to keep a foot in the door, but I would also like to tamper with the size designation column to my needs. BUT I don't want to loose functionality to the future.

I don't see anything in help that specifically states its required..

Seems like you only need this..

  • Connection number
  • End treatment
  • A fixed nominal size
  • Connection point and connection axis, and for branch fittings, mating point and pipe axis for the second connection point
  • Engagement for the iPart, and for branch fittings, cut profile for mating pipe
  • ISOGEN properties for fittings

I can add that the ND value is important as well, if you take the DIN flanges they are marked as M50 for example but when you look at the current active design code the correct value should be DN50. When you change this, T&P is not happy...
