Assuming you mean this panel for "representations":

That panel is only for positional representations, so you won't find the view reps there.

Those can be found by expanding the representation icon in the main browser window:

Hope this helps.

Hi,

It's a little hard to understand when this problem occurs because you didn't give allot of information but I'm guessing you mean when you want to change the view representation of a assembly inside a assembly? If so, right click the representations folder and select "Representation..." A new dialog box will pop up which will allow you to change the view rep (see picture).

Hope it helps, good luck!

If this is not the problem, can you give us some more information about your problem?

Model is best but pictures will do.

This is still a bug in inventor 2018 some assemblies in the model tree view the view reps appear others don`t even though they have view reps in the assembly. Yes you can right click and select it but i want to pick them all in the model tree!!!

Hi! I am sorry I am a bit confused. Could you provide a screenshot or a video showing what exactly you are seeing? The thread still seems to lack critical information about the issue.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

I think i have stumbled upon the Autodesk error some assemblies place in the assembly with the representations associative (so you can see the view tree in the model tree) and the ones without the view tree visible don`t. So if you right click and pick representations and check the associative box it appears in the tree.

Hi Colin,

The behavior does look a little bit strange. But, it is actually working correctly. When you see the Design View Rep in the subassembly node, it means the appearance of the subassembly in the context of the top-level assembly is based on the given DVR. This is called associative DVR workflow, meaning the subassembly DVR dictates its own appearance. You can right-click on the subassembly -> Representation. You will see Default DVR is associative.

If you uncheck "Associative" option in Representation dialog, DVR node will be gone. This means the subassembly appearance can be overridden in the top-level assembly, which may not be the same as the subassembly by itself.

Many thanks!

I had the same problem and this worked great for me. Just make sure the main assembly is "Fully Loaded" (otherwise the Representation is greyed out)

Thank you!

Yeh thanks Johnson not true really i make one assembly withe view reps then another place them both in some other assembly and one will show view rep the other wont randomly. my view is that if you make an assembly with view reps you have done it so you can use them in another higher assembly  so they should appear "unconditionally". Position reps appear why not view???I dont make the assemblies any differently to each other and so they should react the same. Thanks for looking at the "fault" with Inventor anyway.
