BOM QTY Count Not Acurate

When I generated a BOM of my main assembly, it told me I had 59x the Truss Connector part. That seemed high to me, so I typed that part name into the search bar above the model tree and it showed every instance of that part being in that assembly. I counted up those instances and only got 35x, which is the number that should be in the assembly. Does anyone know the cause of this descrepency? Thanks!

Hard to say without the file.  Could be how subassemblies are created/used, etc.

Also, it can depend on how you're doing the bill as well. I believe it groups common part numbers by default, so it could be that as well.  If you see columns with the word VARIES in it, that's grouping common part numbers.

If you are inserting an assembly that is set as a phantom, it will ignore that inserted level in your parts list and you will see it's components in the Parts List.

Still would think you would find all 59 in the browser find.

Hi Adam,

Inventor BOM is Part Number BOM. Basically, when components share the same Part Number, their quantity will roll up in the same row. In the BOM table, click on "Part Number Row Merge Setting" button in the middle. You can uncheck the option. You will see the individual items listed, though they have the same Part Number.
