BOM PART NUMBER NOT MATCHING PART??

How can this be?  I packed and go'd to create a copy assembly, renamed the parts in windows, but the old part numbers are still inside?  How can the Part Number in the BOM be anything other than the file name?

Hi!

A part can have several names:

The occurrence (name in assembly browser tree)

File name (the name in the windows folder)... and...

THE PART NUMBER... is this name that you have to change... change it in the iProperties, or using the aplication "DISIGN TOOL"

Going by this and your other post you should look into Design Assistant. It's installed in the autodesk folder in you start menu. Faster easier and more robust.

Im guessing you're not using Vault.

Yes, no Vault.

I will try the design assistant.

Thanks

"renamed the parts in windows"  I assume you mean you are renaming the files in the Inventor Browser Window?  If so you are only changing the occurance name of that part or sub-assembly in that assembly.  You are not actually renaming the file located on your hard drive or network.  Instead of using pack n go to create a new assembly, try the Ilogic Design Copy utility.

Oh yes, I did! 🙂  At the time it seemed like a good idea.  I will try the other methods next time.  Thanks
